Scottsdale-area rescue organizations, including #LovePup Foundation, are calling on the community for help this summer as local shelters reach full capacity in the extreme heat.
#LovePup, founded by Blake Van Es, is operating at capacity while microchipping dogs, providing veterinary care, and offering air-conditioned housing for strays pulled off Scottsdale streets. Larger breeds are especially hard to place, since apartment restrictions and the heat narrow adoption options — one shelter dog, Bosco, has been waiting for a home for months.
“You can’t have big dogs in apartments and those on the run in this heat,” Van Es told Fox 10 Phoenix, warning that dogs without homes “might not make it.” He’s urging the community to donate to a favorite rescue and volunteer for everyday tasks like feeding, walking, and transporting dogs.
